SSIAB (Spatial Statistics and Image Analysis in Biology) is an informal workshop, which has been organized bi-annually since 1996. The workshop gathers together approximately 50 to 70 researchers working on methodological and application aspects of spatial statistics and image analysis mainly. The workshop was earlier known as the “French-Danish workshop on spatial statistics and image analysis in biology”. Besides giving people in the community a chance to communicate their research to each other, the workshop plays an important function in networking. In particular, the informal and friendly atmosphere of the workshop allows for the opportunity to let younger and established members of the community interact casually with each other. The workshop is especially beneficial for PhD students and postdocs, providing inspiration and ideas for their ongoing/future research. Hence, young researchers will be prioritized in the planning of the workshop program.
The upcoming edition of the workshop will be held in the picturesque Swedish west coast town Smögen, during 2–5 June.
